To commemorate the 5 year anniversary, Piers has decided to get on his bike......

...and will be cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End, a journey of around 1100 miles over 13 days. He will be doing the cycle on his own but with a couple of friends joining him along the way.

When? 20th June - 6th July

How many miles a day?  About 85 miles

How much time cycling a day? It depends on wind and gradient, but around 8 hours in the saddle every day. (There may be a need for more cushions when I get back).

Which route?  A balance between the most direct route, and avoiding the very busy roads, and big mountains....so mainly down the west side of the country, and if all goes well conveniently stopping off at Lydney for the 1st July to raise a glass to Adam.

Wouldn't Adam say take the train....? I am getting to John O'Groats by sleeper train to Inverness  (a trip Adam, and I did many times together about 25 years ago) so I'm sure he would approve
